SKIING and MORE!

The staff at Interiors by Design LOVES living, working and playing up in beautiful Colorado ski country.  It just gets better every year, and this year there is something new and exciting to experience.

Breckenridge Ski Resort has been working hard all summer at installing a new Wiegard coaster at its Peak 8 Fun Park.  The coaster is called Gold Runner and first became popular in Europe.  It is an elevated 2500 foot long track that loops and curves through two ski trails as it descends down the mountain.

Riders are securely belted into 2-seat cars which are permanently attached to the track.  The cars are then individually able to control the speed at which they travel for a safe but exhilarating ride.

The big debut for this new ride is schedule for opening day – November 12th, 2010.  We look forward to seeing you out there!

Finally a carpeting with lifetime permanent stain protection!  No more permanent stains!

This brand new stain protection is actually part of the fiber, not just chemically applied to the surface so it will never wash or wear off.   A new “kink” in the twist of the fiber helps the carpeting retain its new appearance throughout the life of the product.  It is tough enough to withstand even the highest levels of foot traffic while offering incredible softness at the same time.  No more permanent traffic patterns!

This is the latest technology from Mohawk Industries called SmartStrand.  SmartStrand is also ECO-FRIENDLY, adding to its list of exceptional qualities.  SmartStrand is made  from renewable resources that consist of a processed sugar made from corn.  It also uses 30% less energy to produce and reduces CO2 emissions by 63% over the production of other nylon products.

SmartStand carpeting is available in a wide range of colors and styles.  To learn more about Mohawks’ new SmartStrand carpet, call Interiors by Design at 970-453-9020.

What are Low VOC paints?
July 20, 2010, 5:15 pm

Indoor air quality can  be up to three times more polluted than outdoor air quality –

paint and other finishes are among the leading causes.

VOC’s are volatile organic compounds found in paints and finishes which are continually released into the air years after they are applied.  Consumer demand, along with new environmental regulations have led to the introduction of new low-VOC and zero-VOC paints and finishes which are less harmful to both humans and the environment.

Most paint manufacturers have introduced new low-voc paint products that are not only less harmful to humans and the environment but are also durable and reasonably priced. The benefits of using  low-VOC or zero-VOC paint products and finishes aren’t just limited to your improved health.  They also reduces harmful contaminants from destroying the environment.  Low-VOC products perform as well as other paint and finish products and clean up just as easily, and because they are not considered hazardous waste like other paint products, they can be disposed of more easily.

Summit County landfill will collect all paints in the same manner but require them to be in their original containers so that they can be properly tested by chemists and disposed of individually as required by law.

Are you ready to update your home with a fresh coat of paint?  We can help you select the right paint products and colors – call us today at 970-453-9020.
